Surfers Paradise Dental Centre (SPDC) is committed to assisting people with chronic medical conditions and complex care needs under the Medicare Chronic Disease Dental Scheme.
The scheme is designed to help people cover the cost of high out-of-pocket medical expenses by providing Medicare rebates for dental services associated with chronic disease care and management.
These services include but are not limited to extractions, fillings, dentures and preventive dentistry needed because of chronic and complex care medical conditions such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular illness and musculoskeletal disorders. All services provided as part of the Medicare Chronic Disease Dental Scheme are geared towards improving oral health and function as opposed to being purely cosmetic in nature.
Under the scheme, SPDC provides a comprehensive range of chronic care services, some of which may be bulk-billed, up to the rebate limit set by Medicare. Not all dentists offer this valuable means of assistance!
Your GP is responsible for assessing your eligibility under the scheme. Should you be eligible, they will provide you with a referral which you must bring to your first dental appointment. Referrals are valid for up to 2 consecutive calendar years
